When students arrive at the Academy we deliver core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, PE, Art, Design Technology, Music, Drama, Geography, History, RE, Modern Foreign Languages and Personal, Health, Social & Citizenship Education. These curricula are designed to provide engaging, well-rounded and knowledge rich experiences as well as provide the best possible foundation for students who wish to progress to study these subjects at Key Stage 4.
Our timetable is split into 25, hour long lessons, delivered across the week. Subjects are allocated the following number of hours teaching in years 7 and 8:
In addition to the standard timetabled lessons we also run a number of personalised programmes throughout the year to support learning, achievement, attainment and enjoyment.
Details of our curriculum content can be found in the documentation below organised by year group, term and subject. Each document consists of a 'Knowledge Organiser' (the core facts and concepts underpinning each topic) and a 'Scheme Overview' detailing the teaching sequence of the topic.
You can support your child at home by ensuring they are familiar with Knowledge Organiser content through regular quizzing and revision.
If you have any questions regarding our curriculum please contact the Academy directing your query to Vice Principal Chloe McDougall.
