Leadership and Development

Recently Qualified Teacher (RQT) Leadership Programme (Year 2 Teachers)

The RQT Support Programme aims to provide high-quality support and development for teachers who have completed their NQT year by building on their skills and confidence.  It also aims to equip them with a range of effective teaching and learning strategies on key areas with which to raise standards and ensure pupil progress. Part of the training includes opportunities for observations of outstanding practice with a lesson guide. Subsequently, participants unpick the lesson together with our experienced class teachers and leaders.  There is also an opportunity to complete a work-based project on an area of interest that combines strategic leadership tasks and school improvement.

The programme consists of twilight sessions, focusing on key topics such as:

  • Behaviour
  • Marking and Feedback
  • Assessment
  • Questioning
  • Effective use of data to improve student outcomes
  • Moving towards outstanding practice
  • Developing leadership skills
