The staff and students at The Chalk Hills Academy held a very moving remembrance service on the morning of Thursday 9th November.
Mrs Lee, the Principal read the poem ‘For the Fallen’ by Lawrence Binyon to mark the opening of the service.
The Revd. Joe Pienaar, Vicar at St Hugh’s Church in Luton, led Year 7 students and staff in prayer during the ceremony.
Musical accompaniment was provided by Joe Eldred and James Routledge as they played the ‘Last Post’ and sixth-former Beth Richards sang ‘Fields of Gold’ accompanied by Mrs Lawson on piano.
The Art Department led by Ms Chauhan created a wonderful installation where students were able to lay a poppy and reflect on the importance and significance of those who lost their lives to protect freedom and liberty. A two-minute silence was honoured by the Chalk Hills Academy at 11am.
The service proved to be a very moving event for the Academy community.
