Hate Crime Conference

Hate Crime Conference

On the 2nd May, Miss Smith and Mr Sterecki took 10 students, including A.B.A.T. members to Barnfield College to attend a Hate Crime Conference.  The day was made up of four interactive and engaging workshops.  One of our students’ favourite workshops was Faith Matters.  It was delivered by Michael Evans who described his personal account of the radicalisation of his brother Thomas Evans back in 2011 who was then sadly killed in 2015.  The students also enjoyed the workshop that focused on raising the awareness of LGBT with an emphasis on freedom of choice.  In addition, the students took part in a Reflect and Rethink workshop, which centred on rethinking the judgements we make.  Our students also enjoyed the Hate Crime workshop, which focused on what hate crime is.  The day was very informative for all our students.
