International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day

On Thursday we wore purple in support of equality and justice for all women. Some specially designed CHA / IWD silicone wristbands were sold and, to mark the centenary of women being granted the right to vote in the UK, PL Groups voted for Plan International to receive any money raised. Plan International are relentless in driving change to advance children’s rights and equality for girls. They strive for a just world where young girls no longer have to drop out of school, are forced into early marriages or become pregnant whilst still a child.

The theme continued through the day, embedded into lesson topics including Hidden Figures, Women’s Rights Around the World,  Our Views of Women, Women Who Shaped History and The Women of the French Resistance. Thank you to all the teaching staff who put together some really fantastic lessons on Thursday to highlight issues facing women across the world and to the Sports Team who covered their wall with positive posts! Credit must, in particular, go to the English and Humanities departments who went the extra mile and who’s classes produced some truly thought-provoking work.
